About CEIP Feliciano Sánchez Saura
Our educational center, CEIP Feliciano Sánchez Saura, is a public school located in Barrio Peral, Cartagena. The school teaches infant and primary students whose profile has diversified in recent years. This diversity implies the need to adjust to new circumstances by adapting the curriculum according to the needs, to which is added the added difficulty of the lack of knowledge of the language in some students.
In our center, the teaching staff has decided to work fundamentally through an active, participative, manipulative and competent methodology, giving special importance to the psychological/emotional aspect and to the education in values in a transversal way.
Our mission is to provide and facilitate the integral development of our students in a respectful environment where autonomy, self-determination, responsibility and active learning are the most important aspects.
Our vision as an educational center is to become a creative, inspiring and innovative organization that integrates all the people in our educational community in interaction with the environment around us. Therefore, our action is aimed at students, teachers, families, educational community, social and cultural environment and other agents that collaborate or get involved in a more specific way.
Some of the values of our center are: respect, action, empowerment, involvement, creativity, responsibility, autonomy, self-determination, cooperation and sustainability, in order to acquire a meaningful and experiential learning that includes all dimensions of the human being, giving special relevance to the psycho-emotional dimension.
The volunteer activity consists of an enriching exchange of knowledge, values, experiences and skills between the volunteer and the social and human context where he/she develops his/her volunteer task. In the specific case of CEIP Feliciano Sánchez Saura, the volunteer’s context of action will be determined by the following lines of action, which are framed in our Educational Project:
– Learning by projects, by tasks, learning situations or through play, art and creativity, where he/she will pedagogically accompany the students in the presence of the teacher he/she is accompanying at that moment.
– Workshops that promote different skills: theater in the classroom, creative writing, storytelling.
– Manipulative mathematics with presentations of materials
– Music and artistic activities as a main tool to enhance creativity.
– Education for sustainability, ecological transition, circular economy, respect for the environment and solidarity.
– Space for learning through play and for the development of the innate curiosity of each individual.
– Mixed groups of different ages.
– Small groups in guided and autonomous proposal, inclusive teaching respecting the different needs of the students.
– Educational community, where the family actively participates in collaboration with the environment.
– Intergenerational education. Involvement of the elderly in our environment in the day to day of our educational life.
– Priority in the establishment of a climate of respect, tolerance and empathy, as well as peaceful and restorative conflict resolution (active listening).
– Cross-cutting work in physical and psycho-emotional health education and education in values.
These lines of action allow volunteers to fulfill themselves and grow if their ideals and aspirations are aligned with solidarity and with the other principles of the ETUC (respect for human dignity and human rights, a just and egalitarian society, pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice and equality).
